This Privacy Policy sets out the measures taken by us, World Music Service
Limited, to protect your privacy in connection with your use of our website
at www.worldmusicservice.com and any other websites owned by us or any
of our affiliates (collectively, the "Site").
Our commitment to your privacy
We are committed to protecting and respecting your privacy:
• We shall respect your privacy at all times and protect your private
information and personal data (together “private information”)
as described in this Privacy Policy.
• Your private information remains strictly under your control.
• We shall not disclose private information that identifies you
personally to any third party for marketing purposes unless you expressly
permit us to do so.
Data protection compliance
We shall collect, store and use (“process”) your personal
data in a manner that is compatible with the Data Protection Act 1998
(the “Act”). We shall endeavour to keep your personal data
accurate and up to date and shall not keep it for longer than is necessary.
We are the “data controller” for the purposes of the Act.
If you apply to register with us, you expressly consent by doing so to
our processing the personal data that you submit for the purposes described
in this Privacy Policy.
Under the Act, you have the right to ask us not to process your personal
data for marketing purposes. We may request from time to time when collecting
your data your consent to our or third parties’ using your data
for such purposes. In such cases, you can inform us of your preferences
in relation to such processing by checking certain boxes on the forms
that we use to collect your data.
The Act also gives you the right to access information held about you,
which can be exercised in accordance with the Act. Any access request
may be subject to a fee of £10 to meet our costs in providing you
with details of the information that we hold about you.
The information we collect
You do not have to submit any private information when you visit the Site
simply to read or access information from non-protected pages.
If you register with us, we shall collect private information submitted
by you, or otherwise lawfully acquired by us, that identifies you personally
(“personally identifiable information” or “PII”),
such as your name, gender, date of birth, home postal address and email
address.
We may also ask you for private information when you post material on
the Site, enter a competition or promotion that we may run, request further
services or report a problem with our site. If you contact us, we may
keep a record of that correspondence. We may also ask you to complete
surveys that we use for research purposes, although you do not have to
respond to them.
In the course of using the Site as a registered user, you may choose to
post private information onto the Site in the form of uploaded content
(e.g. music tracks) and accompanying information. Any such content or
information is not considered PII that is subject to this Privacy Policy.
As with most web servers, our web servers automatically collect certain
data that your web browser sends whenever you visit any website. Such
data may include your web request, IP (Internet Protocol) address (which
may or may not identify a specific computer), browser type and language,
referring/exit pages, URLs, number of clicks, pages viewed, amount of
time spent on particular pages, the date and time of your request, and
one or more cookies that may uniquely identify your browser.
We may use "clear GIFs" (or “web beacons”) to track
the online usage patterns of our users anonymously. We may also use clear
GIFs in emails sent to our users to track whether emails are opened by
recipients.
Information provided to us by children
We are committed to protecting the online privacy of children under the
age of 18. We encourage parents and guardians to monitor their children's
use of the internet. Where a child is providing us with PII, it is the
responsibility of the parent or guardian to supervise them.
Children under the age of 13 are not eligible to use the Site and must
not submit any private information to us. We do not knowingly collect
or maintain private information on the Site from such children. If we
learn that such private information has been collected on the Site, we
shall delete it. We shall not knowingly contact any such child directly
to participate in any competition or other promotion.
The way we use private information
You agree that we may use your private information for the following purposes:
• We may use it to operate the features of the Site, to allow you
to participate in interactive features of the Site when you choose to
do so, to track your entries, submissions and status in any competitions
and promotions that we may run, to carry out our contractual obligations
to you and, where you have consented to be contacted for such purposes,
to provide you with information, products or services that you request
from us or which we feel may interest you.
• We may display your private information on your account page according
to the preferences you set in your account. We may use your screen name
so that we can personalise your experience.
• We may use your email address to contact you from time to time
to notify you about changes to our service and to confirm for security
reasons that you are who you say you are.
• We may use information other than PII (“anonymous information”),
like your IP address, to compile statistics to assess the usage of the
Site and to customise the Site's content, lay-out and services. This will
allow us to improve the Site and our service.
• We may share aggregate usage information in an anonymised manner
to advertisers and other third parties in order to present more targeted
advertising, products and services to registered users. Advertisements
that appear on the Site are delivered to users by our advertising partners.
• We may provide your private information to any third party that
administers any competition or promotion on our behalf to enable such
third party to administer that competition or promotion properly.
• We may disclose your private information to any member of our
group of companies from time to time (i.e., any subsidiary, holding company
or subsidiary of such holding company, as such terms are defined in section
736 of the Companies Act 1985 and any company in common ownership with
us).
• The data that we collect from you may be transferred to, and stored
at, a destination outside the European Economic Area ("EEA")
for processing by staff operating outside the EEA who work for us or for
one of our suppliers. If you submit PII, you expressly consent by doing
so to such transfer, storing or processing. We shall take all steps reasonably
necessary to ensure that your data is treated securely and in accordance
with this Privacy Policy.
• We may transfer your private information in the event of a transfer
of ownership of the Site or of World Music Service Limited, such as acquisition
by or merger with another company. If an acquiring company should plan
to change this Privacy Policy materially, we shall notify you beforehand.
Apart from the purposes described above, we shall only use the private
information that you provide to us for the purposes described at the point
of collection or for purposes that are legally permitted.
When we are required to disclose information
We shall disclose your private information if we reasonably believe that
we are required to do so by law, regulation, court order or any competent
governmental or public authority or to protect our rights and property
or the rights and property of our affiliates or licensors or of the public.
We may also co-operate with a law-enforcement agency in any official investigation,
and we may disclose your private information to that agency in doing so.
Use of cookies
Cookies are a standard internet technology that many major websites use
to provide useful features for their members. A cookie is a small piece
of text file that is transferred to the hard drive of your computer when
you access the Site. Cookies allow us to store and retrieve log-in information
on a user's system. They provide us with data (e.g., your type of browser)
that we can use to improve the quality of our service and make it easier
to use.
Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies. If you prefer, you
can set yours to refuse cookies, although you may not be able to take
full advantage of the Site if you do so.
Please note that our advertisers may also use cookies, over which we have
no control.
Internet awareness
Whenever you voluntarily post private information in public areas of the
Site, like music tracks, associated profiles or information, comment sections
and message boards, you should be aware that such information can be accessed
by the public and can in turn be used by others to send you unsolicited
communications. Please exercise discretion in deciding what information
you provide.
Other websites
This Privacy Policy only covers the Site. It does not cover other websites
to which this Site may be linked. Other websites will have their own privacy
policy, which may be different to ours.
Security of your private information
Once we have received your private information, we shall protect it by
using physical, managerial and technical procedures and security features
to try to prevent unauthorised access to it.
We cannot, however, guarantee the security of any private information
provided to us in an email or in online form while it is being transmitted
to us. Any transmission is at your own risk.
The security of your private information also depends on your protection
of your account password. Please do not disclose your account password
to unauthorised people. We use industry-standard technology designed to
help keep your personal information safe.

to time. If we do so, we shall post the changes to this Privacy Policy

the revision. You should visit this page periodically to stay aware of
any such changes. Your continued use of the Site and/or continued provision
of private information to us shall be subject to the terms of the then-current
